Recreation Facilities


In the recreational sector Fort Kochi Veli Ground, Ambedkar Stadium (Near Ernakulam KSRTC Bus Stand), the Jawaharlal Nehru International( JNI )Stadium, Marine Drive Ground, Marine drive walk way Rajendra maidan open Air theatre etc were built and managed by this Authority,

Maharajas'’ College ground with its Pavilion which was built on BOT basis by the Authority and transferred to the College management.

Similarly the Subhash Chandra Bose Park was developed with adequate facilities and expanded to about 6 acres and was transferred to the Cochin Corporation.

The JNI stadium, the only International Stadium in the state is a prestigious project of the Authority which was constructed and commissioned in a record period of 615 days. It is a 3 tier multipurpose stadium complex built in 32 acres of land owned by the Authority of and has a seating capacity of 75,000.

The Marine drive ground and walkway was developed by the authority as part of the CMDS scheme. The ground here has an area of 5acres. which is kept as open space for conducting exhibitions, meetings etc.

The walk way built along the back water is a 2.5 km.long landscaped pedestrian path having a width of 12m. It has two beautiful bridges namely Rainbow Bridge and Cheenavala Bridge across the canals crossing the pathways and it is an exciting recreational destination in the city.

The Kettuvallom Bridge and walk way extension

The extension of marine drive walk way up to GIDA land and construction of the Kettuvallom Bridge across the railway canal is the latest recreational facility created by the Authority in the city. The ------ m long and 12 m wide walkway added now has made the total Walkway length to be ------------ with three iconic bridges.
