Chilavannur Bund Road

• SahodaranAyyappan road (SA road) is one major feeder road of the Kochi city. Being the only corridor linking Thripunithura to the city, it is one of the most crowded corridors.
 

• Since the both sides of the road are heavily built up, widening of the road is not practically possible.Hence GCDA thought of the possibility for a parallel road to the SA road.Thus Chilavanuur Bund Road linking NH byepass and MG road is proposed.
 

• It will make a drastic reduction in the traffic volume of SA road, and hence will be a relief to the traffic problems to a greater extent. Also the metro rail is proposed along the SA road. Hence if implemented soon, will be able to solve many traffic issues of the SA road during the implementation and post implementation periods    of the metro rail project.

STATUS

The proposed Chilavannur bund road connects the Thykkoodam underpass in NHbyepass and Thevara in MG road.
 

Major portion of the proposed alignment is existing. In certain portions there are missing links. These gaps have to be connected.

Presently the land required for the project is made available by land exchange through negotiation from the affected land owners.
