SPORTS COMPLEX AT MUNDAMVELY

West Kochi is the oldest settlement of the city where the city’s evolution took place which is now in a sad state of affairs due to lack of infrastructure. In order to contribute to its developmental inputs GCDA has identified a few projects to be taken up immediately in the west Kochi area. One of the important projects is a Sports Complex at Mundamvely. This complex is proposed to have an Indoor stadium for Shuttle badminton, Volleyball and Basket ball. Other facilities envisaged in the complex are Swimming Pool, Warm up Pool, Wading Pool etc for the conduct of aquatic events, Tennis Court Complex, Cricket practice pitch, Sports HOSTEL , commercial space etc. The cost estimate of the project is 50 Cr.

The site of the proposed stadium is along the side of Pandarachira canal at Mundamvely. About 5 acres of land owned by GCDA in the Rameshwaram West DTP scheme has been set apart for this project.

The project is proposed to be implemented making use of the MP, MLA development FUND , assistance from Department of sports GOK, SAI fund, GCDA fund etc.
