• PurushaMenon road is a parallel road to SA road from Kadavanthra area leading to the south Railway Station Eastern Entry.
• Due to the inadequate width of the bridge across the Thevara-PerandoorCanal near KadavanthraMarket, this road is underutilized.
• Hence GCDA decided to reconstruct the bridge, so that the bottle neck will be removed and the people from eastern side of the city will make use of this road to reach the south railway station.
• It will make a drastic reduction in the traffic volume of SA road, andpave way for an easy access for the passengers to the Eastern Entry.
This existing single lane bridge is demolished and a new 7 m wide bridge to hold two-lane traffic will be constructed.
The cost anticipated for this work is approximately Rs. 1.25 cr.
Implementation of the project is in progress using the MLA’s asset fund and GCDA own fund.
